Conditions we treat
Urinary Incontinence:
Urinary incontinence is common, but it does not need to be accepted as a normal part of life. It can occur due to pelvic floor muscle weakness, pelvic organ prolapse, poor bladder habits, or difficulty managing pressure during activities such as coughing, running, or lifting. While urinary incontinence can affect women at any life stage, symptoms can often be significantly improved (and in many cases resolved) with the right approach. Management may include pelvic floor muscle training, bladder retraining, lifestyle modifications, and addressing contributing factors. Our physiotherapists provide individualised assessment and evidence-based care to help you regain confidence and control.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse:
Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) occurs when one or more pelvic organs descend into the vaginal space, often causing symptoms such as vaginal bulging, heaviness, pressure, or difficulties with bladder or bowel emptying.
There are several effective, non-surgical management options available. Treatment may include pelvic floor muscle strengthening, pressure-management strategies, and pessary fittings (medical silicone grade device). All of our experienced physiotherapists are trained in pessary fitting and ongoing management, providing symptom relief and helping you continue daily activities with confidence.
Pelvic Pain:
Persistent pelvic pain can be complex, distressing, and have a significant impact on quality of life. Our physiotherapists assess and manage a wide range of pelvic pain conditions, including dyspareunia (pain with intercourse), endometriosis-related pain, vaginismus, vulvodynia, coccyx pain, deep hip or groin pain, and rectal spasm. We take a personalised, multidisciplinary approach to care, tailoring treatment to your individual presentation and goals. Our focus is on compassionate, evidence-based management in a safe and supportive environment, helping you move towards long-term relief and improved wellbeing.
Overactive Bladder:
Overactive Bladder (OAB) is characterised by urinary urgency, frequent urination, leakage, and waking multiple times overnight to pass urine. While these symptoms can be disruptive, effective management strategies are available.
Treatment may include bladder retraining, pelvic floor muscle strengthening, lifestyle modifications, and techniques such as transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TTNS). With the right guidance, many people experience significant symptom improvement and a better quality of life.
Faecal Incontinence:
Faecal incontinence includes leakage of stool, difficulty controlling wind (flatus), or staining of underwear. Although it can feel confronting or isolating, support and treatment are available. Our physiotherapists specialise in identifying the underlying contributors to your symptoms and developing an individualised management plan. Treatment may involve pelvic floor muscle retraining, bowel optimisation strategies, and education to help you regain control, confidence, and comfort.
Pain during Pregnancy:
Pregnancy can place significant physical demands on the body and may be associated with conditions such as pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain, sciatica, and hip discomfort. Our physiotherapists provide safe, pregnancy-specific treatment to help relieve pain, maintain mobility, and support you in staying active throughout pregnancy. We believe movement is key to a more comfortable pregnancy, and we guide you with evidence-based care every step of the way.
Labour Preparation:
Labour preparation with a physiotherapist focuses on preparing your body for birth and recovery. Sessions may include pelvic floor strengthening and relaxation, effective pushing techniques, perineal massage education, and strategies to optimise confidence and control during labour. This preparation can support a more positive birth experience and assist with postnatal recovery.
Postnatal Management:
Regardless of how you give birth, postnatal assessment and care are essential. Our physiotherapists are highly trained in assessing pelvic floor function, abdominal separation, and post-birth recovery needs.
We provide guidance on scar management, safe return to exercise, and restoring strength and confidence in the postpartum period. Our care is tailored to your body, your birth experience, and your goals.
Abdominal Separation:
Abdominal separation (diastasis recti) can occur during pregnancy and may persist long-term if not addressed. Whether you are newly postpartum or years beyond childbirth, we can help improve abdominal strength, control, and function.
Using real-time ultrasound, we provide visual feedback to guide correct muscle activation and progression. Our physiotherapists also have specialised clinical Pilates training, allowing us to design safe, effective programs to support your recovery.
Musculoskeletal Conditions:
In addition to pelvic health, we treat a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions, including back, hip, and pelvic pain. Whether you are an athlete or simply want to move comfortably and confidently in daily life, we create personalised treatment plans tailored to your goals. Our aim is to restore strength, mobility, and function so you can return to the activities you enjoy.
